Caracterización de la preparación de los bibliotecarios en búsqueda y recuperación de información / Characterization of the training of librarians in the searching and retrieval of information

Fundamento: la búsqueda y recuperación de la información tiene una gran importancia en el desarrollo del conocimiento; esta puede realizarse a través de diferentes herramientas pero las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, (TIC) imponen nuevos modos de comportamiento del bibliotecario, tanto en su vida social como laboral, si bien se aprecian dificultades en este sentido, y se indaga al respeto. Objetivo: caracterizar la preparación de los bibliotecarios del sistema de salud de Villa Clara en búsqueda y recuperación de información. Métodos: se emplean métodos del nivel teórico: analítico-sintético, histórico-lógico, inducción-deducción, sistémico y estructural-funcional. Del nivel empírico: observación, encuesta y análisis de documentos. Resultados: son escasos los estudios sistémicos realizados para solucionar la falta de conocimientos sobre búsqueda y recuperación de la información en los bibliotecarios de salud, el tiempo destinado a la superación profesional es insuficiente, no existen asignaturas incluidas en los planes de estudios que enseñen a utilizar herramientas que favorezcan el aprendizaje de los bibliotecarios ni una propuesta de superación sobre búsqueda y recuperación de la información en el contexto estudiado, y los materiales de consulta que existen en Infomed no son utilizados óptimamente. Conclusiones: se constata que aún existen deficiencias en la preparación de los bibliotecarios del sistema de salud en Villa Clara en búsqueda y recuperación de la información.

Background: the search and retrieval of information has great importance in the development of knowledge. It can be done through different tools, but the Information and Communication Technologies demand new ways of behavior of the librarians, both in their social and working life. There are difficulties in this respect which are inquired here. Objective: to characterize the training of librarians in the health system of Villa Clara in the search and retrieval of information. Methods: methods of the theoretical level are employed: analytic-synthetic, historical-logical, inductive-deductive, and systemic and structural- functional. Of the empirical level: observation, survey and document analysis. Results: there are scarce systemic studies done to solve the lack of knowledge about search and retrieval of information in the health librarians, the time devoted to their professional upgrading is insufficient, there are no subjects included in the curriculum that teach how to use tools that favor the learning of librarians, and there is no proposal on the search and retrieval of information in the context that is studied, and the reference materials that are available in Infomed are not used optimally. Conclusions: it was verified that there are still deficiencies in the training of librarians in the health system of Villa Clara concerning the search and retrieval of information.

Servicios de información en línea: implementación y desarrollo en Villa Clara / On-line information services: implementation and development in Villa Clara

Fundamento: la introducción de las nuevas tecnologías, la utilización de soportes electrónicos como medios para implementar la automatización en la esfera bibliotecaria y el reconocimiento de recursos informativos en salud, agilizan los procesos para acceder a una mayor cantidad de información relevante y confiable. Objetivo: describir los servicios de información en línea, su implementación y desarrollo en la actividad de búsqueda y recuperación de la información en el Centro Provincial de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara. Métodos: se realizó una investigación descriptiva retrospectiva en la década de los años 1990 hasta la actualidad, donde se emplearon métodos del nivel teórico: el histórico-lógico y el análisis-síntesis; y empírico: el análisis documental y se realizaron entrevistas a informantes clave. Resultados: se destacan el surgimiento del portal Infomed Villa Clara, el crecimiento de las bases de datos informativas en salud y el desarrollo en la búsqueda y la recuperación de la información, así como la superación, el profesionalismo y la competencia de sus trabajadores. Conclusiones: el trabajo en el centro se ejecuta a través de los servicios de información en línea; su implementación y el desarrollo que han tenido en la actividad de búsqueda y recuperación de la información han contribuido al crecimiento de su actividad científico-informativa.

Background: the introduction of new technologies, the use of electronic media as a means to implement automation in the librarian field and the recognition of information resources in health field to streamline processes that enable users to access a greater amount of relevant and reliable information. Objective: to describe the on-line information services, its implementation and the development information searching and information retrieval activities have had at this center. Methods: a descriptive retrospective study was conducted at the Provincial Information Center of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara since the nineties to the present where methods from the theoretical level: the logical-historical and analysis-synthesis methods; and from the empirical level, the documentary analysis, and interviews with key informants, were used. Results: the emergence of Villa Clara INFOMED portal, the growth in relation to information databases in health, and information searching and retrieval development as well as the professionalism of workers, the way they are trying to excel themselves, and the competence of them, are the main aspects could be highlighted. Conclusions: online information services, its implementation and the development the information searching and information retrieval activities have had, are the areas of action of this center which have contributed to the growth in the scientific information activity.

Repositorio de búsquedas y recuperación de la información científica en ciencias de la salud / Repository of searches and retrieval of scientific information in health sciences

Fundamento: actualmente el conocimiento adquiere dimensión más universal, y la labor de las bibliotecas, centros de documentación y su capital humano, se orienta al desarrollo de servicios y productos que permitan gestionar el conocimiento, la búsqueda y recuperación de la información y construir colectivamente estos recursos en las instituciones; partiendo de estos presupuestos se diseñó un repositorio digital para registrar las búsquedas y recuperación de la información que a solicitud de los usuarios se realizan en el área de gestión del conocimiento del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte longitudinal en el período de 2010 a 1012. En el muestreo no probabilístico intencional participaron 25 bibliotecarios, que representan el 75 % del total, 7 especialistas de las ciencias médicas y 3 informáticos. Se emplearon métodos teóricos y dentro de los empíricos la revisión documental, el cuestionario y la entrevista. Resultados: los especialistas de las ciencias médicas, técnicos y bibliotecarios de las unidades de la red provincial concuerdan en la necesidad de disponer de un sitio que reúna las búsquedas ordenadas por especialidades médicas y otros aspectos sobre alfabetización informacional, e información sobre las bases de datos disponibles en Infomed. Conclusiones: el repositorio asume las ventajas de las plataformas colaborativas y en particular la herramienta PLONE, que es una opción de sitio colaborativo de fácil uso para los usuarios. Los especialistas consultados expresan que el producto diseñado es necesario y disminuye el tiempo de satisfacción de las necesidades de los usuarios.

Background: currently, knowledge takes a more universal dimension, and the work of libraries, documentation centers and other institutions for the improvement of human resources is focused on the development of services and products that allow the management of knowledge and a collective building of the information resources of institutions. Objective: to design a digital repository in order to record the search and retrieval of information requested by the users in the department of knowledge management of the Provincial Information Center of Medical Sciences in Villa Clara. Methods: theoretical, empirical and mathematical methods were used in the processing of information. This involved librarians, workers and specialists in information management. Results: the medical sciences specialists, technicians and librarians of the provincial units agree on the need for a site that gathers the searches ordered by medical specialties. It was also noted that users do not know search strategies for the retrieval of information. Interviewees expressed the need for such product. Conclusions: the repository contains the advantages of collaborative platforms, particularly the tool Plone, and is an option for a user-friendly collaborative site. The experts consulted expressed that the product devised is necessary and reduces the users' search time.
